Rafael Nadal wins the Australian Open. Its an epic match (7-5 3-6 7-6 7-3 3-6 6-2) against Federer. His win denies Federer a record-tying 14th Grand Slam tennis title and become the first player to secure majors on three surfaces. On the red clay of Roland Garros, on the green grass of the All England Club last season, and now on the blue hard of Melbourne Park. Three surfaces, three different colours, and the same winner!

“It is very special for me. It’s a dream win, one Grand Slam on a hard court,” said Nadal.

“I’ve worked very hard all my life to improve my tennis outside of clay. I’m very happy, very happy to win the title.”

Nadal is the first man to claim a Grand Slam victory with five-set wins in both the semis and the final. He is also the first Spaniard to take the Australian Open title. The only major title that is not in his possession at the moment is the US Open.

It was what drives him, a motivation evident in every point of the five-set triumph over Roger Federer that made him the first Spaniard to win the Australian Open, he said.

“I love the competition, not only in tennis, but I love the competition in all aspects of life,” Nadal said. “When I compete I love to be there and fight always. Maybe I like more to fight for a win than to win.”

Federer cries after losing to Nadal in the Australian Open Finals

Roger Federer’s loss to Rafael Nadal at the finals of the Australian Open was full of emotions. He cries uncontrollably after receiving his plaque. Analyzing that moment, perhaps we can say that he cried because he failed to meet his personal expectations; he failed to meet his follower’s expectations and most especially the world’s expectations.

Federer said, “In the first moment, you’re disappointed, you’re shocked, you’re sad, then all of a sudden, it overwhelms you,” then he cries. At that moment, crying is the best way to release all the emotions because as he said, “The problem is you can’t go in the locker room and just take it easy and take a cold shower. You’re stuck out there. It’s the worst feeling … It’s rough.” Then for him, that quick outburst is the best relief to release the negative emotions.

Crying is considered the best way to ease the stress. People cry for various reasons and it’s quite natural for humans to cry. But whatever may be the reason, crying is good for heath because it helps in unwinding metal tension. And Federer’s crying moment is not the first in records. There are a lot of men who cries in front of a big crowd.

Crying is not a weakness; it’s a natural, human response to sorrow, pain, fear, anger, shame, grief, despair, depression and sadness. The strongest males are definitely the ones who are able to cry when they need to. And FEDERER is not an exemption.
